Age 81; born in Chicago; WWII veteran of the Merchant Marine; attended U. of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign; began career in 1949 with Domestic Finance Corp. acquired by American Investment Corp., served as divisional credit manager and administrative assistant, retiring in 1977 after 28 years; employed by Skokie Federal Savings and Loan, retiring again after 18 years; a shipwright, an avid reader of history and an election judge; lifelong member of Bethany United Church of Christ, founding member and past treasurer of Men's Fellowship; preceded in death by first wife, Mary Jane Dressler and daughter, Patricia L. Cowell
