Age 81; 32-year resident of Northbrook IL, lived 14 years in Skokie; born in Chicago and grew up on West Side, played basketball for Marshall H.S.; attended Central Missouri State U. on athletic scholarship, basketball team won NAIA national championship twice; taught school and played professional baseball three years in farm systems for Cubs and Cleveland Indians; WWII served in Fourth General Hospital in Australia and New Guinea, developed rehab program, earned Bronze Star; returned to teaching and coaching, directed day camps; 25 years owner/director of Harry Heller's National Athletic Camp; 1981-1995 active in Sports Lodge B'nai B'rith; founded Chicago's Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, sports editor for Chicago Jewish Sentinel magazine, President Emeritus of Sports Lodge B'nai B'rith
