Age 92; lifelong resident of Evanston IL; born in Canby MN to Omer and Olive Hoel and grew up on Grey Street in Evanston; graduated from Evanston H.S. in 1939 and entered Colgate U.; entered U.S. Army Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant and bombardier/navigator in B-26 Marauder, shot down on May 17, 1943, spent two years as POW in Stalag Luft III; married on December 8, 1945, returned to Colgate and graduated in 1947; first employed in advertising department of Chicago Tribune, later worked in television for WMAQ as Director of Sales until retirement in 1976; served as VP/Manager of Evanston office of Baird & Warner Real Estate until 2002; preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jean on November 24, 2013 - Date of Publication
