Age 100; born in Highland Park IL to Olaf and Anna Thorngren, who emigrated from Sweden in the 1890's; Olaf, a decorated soldier in the Spanish-American war, was a blacksmith on Samuel Insull's Hawthorn Farm in Libertyville IL; attended Libertyville Township H.S.; worked for Commonwealth Edison; married in 1939; one of the original families to settle in Glenview, raised daughters on Dewes Street, the home remained in the family until 1987; husband worked as Glenview Village Manager from 1937 until his death in 1967; shared home in Ammer Ridge in Glenview with friend Maryon Rettig for 35 years; last two years lived with her daughter Marsha in Delavan Lake WI; member of Glenview Community Church, sang in choir and member of Chapter 1; member of bridge club and a duplicate bridge group; Brownie and Girl Scout leader; enjoyed water skiing, white-water rafting, sailing, kayaking, air balloon rides and camping; preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Hamilton Howard; and her siblings, Frank, Yerda and Edith - Date of Publication
