Age 84; 43-year resident of Glenview; top union business agent; son of a union plumber, grew up in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood; graduate of Calumet H.S.; window trimmer for Walgreens drugstores in 1937 and active in Window Trimmers Local 41; during WWII served as staff sergeant for engineering company that built a fuel pipeline across France and into Germany, landed at Normandy four days after D-Day, earned four battle stars; business agent of Local 41 in 1947 and local 17 in 1957; after opening of McCormick Place in 1961, negotiated contracts for Teamsters and carpenters union contracts; elected president of IL State Council of Upholsterers International in 1968, vice president at large for the general executive board of Upholsterers International in 1982; retired in 1991; preceded in death by his sister, Mary Margaret Davis
