Patriarch of one of the founding clans in Glenview; German immigrant, after 1st wife and child died, came to U.S. and settled in Northfield Township area in 1850s before it was incorporated as Glenview; remarried in U.S., fathered 13 children, five by deceased wife's half sister and eight after her death by her sister, Anna; opened Rugen Stores, one of first mini-malls, on Glenview Road, sold hardware, food, textiles and clothing - Date of Publication
