Age 87; born in Transcona, Manitoba, Canada; graduate of U. of Manitoba in 1938, majoring in chemistry, botany, zoology and geology, received his master's degree in chemistry and geology from the U. of Minnesota; enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939, learned how to fly Spitfire airplanes at Alymer, Ontario and flew convoy missions from Halifax to Ireland and back, became a member of the Royal Air Force and escorted Lancaster Bombers in day-night raids over Germany; attended Chicago Medical School becoming an obstetrician-gynocologist, entered residency at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, established an office in Glenview; became an American citizen and joined the Army National Guard as a medical officer in the 33rd Infantry Division, retired in 1979 as a brigadier general; retired from medicine in 1995; preceded in death by his first wife Virginia, a son John A., and a brother Burnie Gasior
