(valedictorian at both colleges); taught school in Meredosia before enlisting in U.S. Navy during WWII, stationed in Philadelphia, met/married U.S. Navy Ensign Whiting of Glenville WV on October 17, 1943; after WWII, moved to Evanston and Fred completed his master's degree at Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern U., worked at NBC News Chicago and on faculty at Medill until his death; Frederica returned to work at Family Counseling Service of Evanston, retired as Business Manager in 1987; preceded in death by her husband, Fred on January 1, 1969 - Date of Publication
