Survived by: parents, James and Helen of Wilmette; three sons, James of Urbana, Jeffrey of Elgin, and John of Glenview; two brothers, Dr. Edward Wiss of Chicago and Robert Wiss of Evanston.
John F. Wiss, age 62, died at glenbrook Hospital. Mr. Wiss was a civil enginner and co-founder of Wiss-Janney-Elestner and Associates, Northbrook. He earned is bachelor's and master's degrees at Northwestern University. He specialized in the prevention, correction and control of objectionable vibration and noise, with emphasis on structural safety and human comfort. He was the recipient of the 1971 Raymond C. Reese award by the American Society of Civil Engineers, for outstanding contributions to the field. Rev. Raymond Miller officiated at funeral services in Glenview.
