Died: Jan 4 in his home.
Employment: Principal of the Rugen School in Glenview, since 1960, having come her from Maywood, Ill. where he had been an elementary school teacher and athletic coach for 12 years at the Irving School.
Born: in East Hamden, Maine. Attended elementary and secondary schools in Vinal Haven, Maine. For three years was a student at the Gorham State Teachers College, Gorham, Maine. Obtained a bachelor of science in education from Boston University and briefly attended Harvard before coming to Illinois.
Obtained his Master's Degree at the University of Chicago and also took courses at the National College of Education.
Past President of the Lake Shore Division of the Elementary Principals' Assn. and acive in the affairs of the United Methodist Church.
Survived by: his widow, Mrs. Ann Clifford, a music teacher at the Glen Grove School in Glenview Dist. 34. also four children, Mrs. Sylvia Kunreuther, Marion, Pa.; David W. Clifford, Palatine, Ill.; Paul J. Clifford, Romeoville, Ill., and R. William Clifford, Doraville, Ga.; eight grandchildren and two sister: Mrs. Alene McSpiritt, Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Doris Paine, Ogunquit, Maine.
Funeral: services held Monday at the Northbrook Methodist Church. Memorial services conducted at Rugen School by the Rev. Robert C. Warskow, associate pastor at the Glenview Community Church.
Arrangements handled by the Hanekamp chapel.
