Born: in Florissant, Missouri on Jan 22, 1895.
Training: began April 18, 1921 as a Divine Word Missionary Brother at Techny.
After discharge from the Army, he worked on a farm in Missouri and in oil fields in Texas.
He applied to the Society of the Divine Word in 1921.
He worked at the Divine Word Mission Press for 8 years. He changed to caring for the chickens at the Techny farm his flocks reaching 1700.
Died: Sept 24 at St. Therese's Hospital in Waukegan after a long period of failing health.
Survived by: brothers: Rev. Aloysius Schmitz of Lincoln, Nebraska; William of Brainard, Nebraska and George of Florissant, Missouri.
Funeral: Bible wake service held Sept 26. A concelebrated funeral Mass was said in Divine Word Chapel.
Cemetery: Divine Word Seminary, Techny
