This picture, taken about a month after the fire, shows only a portion of the devastated area. Several buildings of a temporary nature had already been put up and the reconstruction of the town begun. The view, extending from the ruins of the Armories and Cathedral on the south to the Methodist Church on the northwest, shows only a narrow section of the devastation which covered the whole area from Probyn Street to the southern limits of the town. This section today is largely rebuilt, with good houses and substantial business blocks, and presents an almost unbelievable two storeys. Dr. E.W. LINKLATER, L.M.C.C.
