Jordan Water Used For Christening of Baby tn Haileybury A christening ceremony which was perhaps unique in the his- tory of Haileybury was perform- ed on Tuesday evening of last week, when little Helen Wilma, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. J. McAulay, Probyn Street, was baptized with water from the River Jordan. A small quan- tity of the water had been brought home by Mrs. H.S. Hen- nessy, who, early this year, visit- ed the Holy Land during a trip to the Eastern Hemisphere, and the baby had the distinction of being the first to be baptized in the water of the famous River of Bible times. The ceremony was performed at the McAulay home by Rev. D. A. MacKeracher, pas- tor of the United Church. Mrs. W. J. Attig, of Hamilton, a guest of Mrs. McAulay's, and Mrs. Helen Miller, of Cobalt, were godmothers to the little baby. pee Ce ak iad 1928 dates for the Canadian National Exhibition are Friday, August 24th to Saturday , Sep- tember 8th. Olympic games contenders of several nations have entered the Canadian National Exhibition track and field events. Meets Death in North Particulars are Lacking Willie Forget, son of Mr. Wil- frid Forget and a resident of Haileybury for the past twelve years, was killed by a train at Kapuskasing on Friday morning last under circumstances of which relatives here are still without definite news. When word of the tragedy was received the father and two brothers of the unfortunate man caught the af- ternoon train for Kapuskasing and have not returned. Mr. Forget had gone to the northern town to work about two and half months ago. He was thirty-four years of age, mar- ried and leaves six small children. The funeral was held at Kapus- kasing on Saturday, although it was desired by his father and brothers to have the body brought home. This, it is said, was rendered impossible by the terrible way in which the unfor- tunate man was injured. Frank Forget, brother of the victim of the tragedy, -stated this morning that his father and. bre- thers are expected home tonight.
