FushionFancies | The Down-in-Back Movement Affects Headgear Down-in-the-back but fitting close-to the head and yet expos- ing a wide expanse of forehead-- here you have the salient charac- teristics of Spring millinery. Ex- emplified by the two models here shown. The first is a slate blue toque cleverly draped grosgrain, witha brow-band 'of another shade of blue. The second is also of grosgrain in black. Note the pleated sec- tion which furnishes the down-in- back line. Pleats in beige. po eae "Wear the Darker Color Inside," Says the Prophet 'Beige and black ensembles promise to be favorites for the spring," says an authoritative re- port from Paris. "But the thing to remember is that the dress will be of black and the coat of beige. And here you have a charming example of this idea. The coat is of beige broadcloth, with corded collar and cuffs, the cording ex tending around the entire coat. The dress is of black flat crepe, \ © impossible to ventilate. i é | Every home should have a rea- Health Service | | sonable amount of facilities for cleanliness. Every room in the house should have a good-sized window which opens and: looks out upon a yard, a street, or a large court. This allows for the free entrance of air into the room. Air is an ab- solute necessity and, therefore, rooms without windows opening into the outer air are unfit to live in. Alcove rooms without a window are practically as bad as windowless rooms, as they are To the Victor Belong the Spoils The first to greet Major H. O. D. Segrave, after speeding along Daytona Beach at 231.3 miles per hour, was Mrs. Segrave. Judg- ing by the expression on her face she was more than delighted to be able to find hi mintact aftertravelling faster than any man ever simply made. And the hat is of black felt.- did in an auto. Below is shown a glimpse of the British racer speeding down the course when he set the record. _/ New Hotel Arising from the Ruins The work of peeling off the wooden shell under which the new Manoir Richelieu has been building all winter, was begun last week. The glazing of windows on the first two floors is now in progress and the gleaming copper roof is in place. The picture' above shows the towers and parts of the walls emerging fro.mthe encasing structure. ' I. O. D. E. DANCE WAS ba AMONG THE SMARTEST EVENTS OF THE SEASON The Easter Monday dance giv- en at Hotel Haileybury under the auspices of the Haileybury Chap-} ter I. O. D..E. was one of the} smartest events of the season. Despite the appearance of real April Fool Day weather, there was a good attendance and they were ably entertained by the splendid music furnished by Cliff Brown's orchestra. b The hall was very gaily decor- ated with purple cornucopia hold- ing Easter lilies, Easter chickens and ducks, and with colored streamers made a very effective decoration. In the writing room, which was also prettily decorat- ed, fruit punch was served. The buffet arranged in the dining room, was decorated with Easter lilies and daffodils, and held a very appetizing lunch. During the evening the little O'Gorman girls from Cobalt, dressed} in Scotch costumes, de- lighted the dancers with the Highland Fling and Sword Dance accompanied on the piano by Miss Mary~Cullen. They were pre- sented with prety gifts by the Regent on behalf of the Chapter. Another feature which delight- ed the audience was the appear- ance of a little white bunny draw- ing a decorated cart full of color- ed eggs, which were numbered. Each person was given an egg. The holder of the lucky number, Mr. S. MacLean, receiving a $5 gold piece, the other lucky person a lollypop. Colored hats and serpentine confetti helped to make the dan- cers happy. The proceeds from the enter- tainment will be used to pay part of the salary of the School Nurse. The Haileybury Chapter, I. 0. D. E. are extremely grateful tolsuch a happy one.
