Bridge and "500" for those who do not dance. Mr. A. Brian, who has been ser- iously ill at his home on the Lake Shore Road, is improving rapidly this week, although: still confined to the house. The regular monthly meeting of the Home and Foreign Mis- sion Circle of the Baptist Church will be held on Thursday, Febru- ary 13th, at 3 p.m, at the home of Mrs. Jas. Morton, Cecil Street. Mr. W. J. H. Shillington, who has been suffering from the ef- fects of a motor accident last fall, went to Toronto last week, where he will remain for a time. Coombe, New Liskeard. 44-2c Past Grand Master to Address Masons at Meeting Tonight An event of interest in local Masonic circles will take place at the regular meeting of Hailey- bury Lodge, A.F. & A. M., in the Masonic Temple here tonight, when Worshipful Brother Rev. Canon Allan P. Shatford, of Montreal, Past Grand Master. of the Grand Lodge of Quebec, will be present to give an address to the brethren. Canon Shatford has for many years been promi- nent in Masonic circles and all who have heard his addresses are loud in their praise of his master- ly insight into the workings of the Order and his splendid way of illustrating its aims and ob- jects. Thee Masonic officers have en- deavored to send an invitation to all Masons in town who do not belong to this Lodge, but if any have been overlooked, they are hereby assured that they will be extended a cordial welcome. The meeting will be held at 7.30. Local Assaver Gets South American Ore For Analysis Here Samples of ore from Peru, South America, shipped to Hail- eybury to be assayed would ap- pear to be a peculiar feature of the times, but this was the case this week when J. W. N. Bell, of the Haileybury Assay Office, re- ceived a shipment consisting of 1100 pounds of samples. The lot is being assayed for gold, copper, silver, lead and zine and has been sent on by operators in a South American mining district, pass- ing-by many large assay offices en route. Mr. Bell would not say 'under what circumstances the fame of the Haileybury Assay Office had reached the southern mining fields, but he is busy on the job and will in time submit a definite report on the samples sent. Mr. Neil Ferguson and his sister, Mrs. White, of Montreal,| were in Haileybury last week-| end to visit their mother, Mrs. D. Ferguson, Lake Shore Road, who | is ill. The rooms were bright with Spring flowers, and the bride looked charming in a gown of royal blue chiffon made | in princess lines with flowing draperies, shoes and stockings in| oyster shade, and carried Talis- man roses and spirea. Receiving with her were her mother, Mrs. E. M. Goodman, of New Liskeard and Mrs. George T. Smith. Mrs. Goodman wore rose georgette with a corsage of mauve sweet peas and roses. Her shoes and stockings were blonde and her hat was chartreuse green moire embroidered in pastel shades. Mrs. Smith was in black lace with black and white hat, and her cor- sage was of violets and roses. In the tea room, which was lighted entirely with candles, the tea table was centred with a sil- ver basket of chrysanthemums, purple iris, snapdragon and spi- rea, and tall ivory candles in sil- ver holders. Mrs. H. W. Sutcliffe poured coffee, Mrs. Harry Sparks tea, and Mrs. W. J. Fuller cut the ices. The asssitants were Mrs. F. L. Smiley, Mrs. W. E. Bag- shaw, Mrs. W. J. Durrell, Mrs. R. A.
