It has been touch- way should ed upon by visiting cabinet min- isters, by speakers at almost all} recent gatherings of a public na- ture and by all the newspapers in the districts. It would appear to be an occa- sion for pressing the matter on the attention of all candidates for the Federal Parliament. Every- one knows that when the project was brought up at' the present session it was shelved for the present, so far as the govern- ment is concerned. It is the view of the Ontario Legislature, expressed by the Hon. Wm. Finlayson on his last visit to this section, that being a national undertaking, the Dom- inion Government. should shoul- der a portion of the cost. His government, the minister said, was ready to do its part under any reasonable arrangement. This would appear to leave it up to the Federal Government, so far as Ontario is concerned, hence the necessity for securing a de- claration from each candidate in the election to come as to his per- sonal views and the stand he will take if returned to parliament. It is a very important matter to the North Country. We believe that we have the best route for a road connecting the east with the west right over the Ferguson Highway and it looks like an op- _ _portuie time to keep the matter before the public. Boats Now Running On Regular Schedule Navigation now officially open on Lake Temiskaming, the boats of the Ville Marie Naviga- tion Company having adopted their summer schedule. The M.S. Keego made her first trip to the foot of the lake on Tuesday and the regular timetable, which is changed somewhat . from. last year, is now in force. A list of the sailings appears in another column. There will be ample opportuni- ty for both local residents and tourists to enjoy the splendid trip down the lake this year. 1% makes a fine day's outing and gives the traveller a real glimpse of some of the finest scenery in the North. 1S CENTRAL Marker Corner Georgina and Blackwall LOOK!
