Macdonald, a well known citizen of Haileybury up to last year, passed away sudden- ly early Saturday morning last on the train by which he was coming from Toronto to Hailey- bury. He had suffered an illness from heart trouble over a year ago, and had not entirely recov- ered, although recently he had been feeling much better than for months previous. He was in his 49th year. The late Mr. Macdonald was born in Richmond, Quebec, and was a veteran of the great war. He served overseas as a Captain in the R.C.H.A. and on his return spent some time in Vancouver, B.C., coming to the North Coun- try as a representative of Pea- cock Brothers, an English mach- inery firm, in 1920. He lived in Haileybury from that time until last fall, when with Mrs. Mac- donald he moved to Toronto. Shortly before his death he had decided to move to Ottawa and had accepted a position with the Hull Iron and Steel Works. Mrs. Macdonald had come to Hailey- bury for a visit and he was on his way to join her here when his death occurred. Surviving are his widow, who Miss Theodora was formerly Carlisle, of Vancouver, and one daughter, Charlotte, aged eight. A sister, Mrs. Alexander, of Richmond, Que., and a_ brother, James N. Macdonald of Elbourne, Sask., also survive. Mrs. Alex- ander was in Haileybury for the funeral and is staying with Mrs. Macdonald for a time. The funeral was held on Mon- day afternoon under the auspices of Haileybury Lodge A. F. & A. M., of which deceased was a member, and was attended by many old friends here. The ser- Bereaved Family Extends Thanks for Kindness Shown Miss Anna Fernholm, the eldest of six children who have within the past few months suffered a double bereavement in the death of both their mother and father, has written the following letter of thanks to all relatives and friends who have shown them kindness and sympathy: "Following the death of my father, Mr. J. C. Fernholm, I wish to express my sincere thanks to all the relatives and friends who were so kind to us in our bereave- ment. To those who came to pay a last tribute to my father and sent so many beautiful flowers, we are-very grateful. It is only alittle while since we lost our loving mother and father and, as we are six children left behind, the world seems very empty. Our hope is that God will provide for us and that we shall meet our dear parents again on the Resur- rection Morning." ANNA FERNHOLM vice was conducted in St. Paul's Church and at the graveside by Rey. Canon Hincks and the last Masonic Rites were observed both at the home and the ceme- tery by the brethren of the Lodge. The pallbearers were Messrs. G. H. Dickson, H. Jem- mett, F. Carnegie, Leo Erenhous, F. H. Todd and J. Denne. Card of Thanks The members of the family of the late Mrs. McNeely wish to extend their sincere thanks to their many friends for the gerat kindness and sympathy shown in their recent bereavement.
