When our. Order was' founded in 1900, one ofits greatest aims was the banding together with one bond, all the women of the Empire, and never has there been a greater need for that bond than there is today, when so many dif- ferent sources are seeking to tear down that, which we hold most dear, the preservation of the un- ity of the Empire. ; I feel greatly honored to speak to you today and I wish to thank you for giving me the op- portunity of addressing you, be- cause I feel it is wise to come in contact with the National Officers for our views: differ from yours, as yours are naturally local, ours must be National. Therefore, when wwe receive a problem, it must be decided nationally, that is, what might be feasible in one Province might not be feasible in another,.so we must solve it to suit all the provinces. In your work concentrate on the work of the Order. There are so many different organizations who are very anxious for our help, knowing that we are a large _ and influential body of women. This year we want to raise ov- er $100,000 for our endowment fund. It is your work for the coming year. If every mebmer of the Order would give -or make $10.00 we would complete the . whole $200,000. You know that during the war we raised over six million dollars, and after the war we raised over half a million for our War Memorial, and see the wonderful results that have . been accomplished by the War Memorial. 128 Bursaries have been awarded, and 80 post grad- . uate scholarships. We want- our , endowment fund to have the same splendid success as the War Memorial. We as an Order, must progress, we cannot stand still. We must have more Chapters and more young people to carry on our work when we have pas- sed on. - We have had some very tare- ful thinking and we know that this Stewart Endowment Fund is the one thing to do this-year.
