CANADA HONORS MEMORYOF GREAT NATURE LOVER A close-up of the memorial sundial which stands in the centre of the beautiful Macoun Memor- ial Garden at Ottawa, which was opened on June 6th by Premier Mackenzie King. Erected to the memory of Dr. W T. Macoun, Dominion Horticulturist, who died in 1933, the garden is a fit- ting memorial to a man whose love of gardens and flowers was deep and abiding. PREMIER KING OPENS THE MACOUN MEMORIAL GARDEN AT OTTAWA To commemorate in an appropriate and lasting form the life and gvork of the late Dr.. W. T- Macount, Dominion Horticulturist, who passed away in 1933, a memorial garden was opened on June 6th by Right Hon. W. L. Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada at the Central Ex- perimental Farm, Ottawa, on the sité of Dr. Macoun's former home. Above is a general view of the Macoun Memorial Garden which contains many of the varieties of lilacs, roses, and other flowers originated at the Experimnetal Farm during the life-time of the late Dominion Horti- culturist, also shrubs and perennials. Davis celebrated his 111th birthday at his home near Washington Court House, Ohio, by playing cards for three hours, greeting relatives and friends and telling pioneer stories to several of his 100 grand-children. Davis is pictured here with Joe Fran- cis Hansford of Wilmington, his 100th grand-child. He reads without glasses and has voted in every presidential election since 1846. PRIME MINISTER OPENS NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AT OTTAWA = The new administration building at the Central Experimental Farm at Ottawa which was open- ed by Premier W. L. Mackenzie King a few days ago. This new building was named the Wil- liam Saunders building in honor of a man who contributed more to Canadian 'agriculture than any other man in the history of the Dominion. The chain of Dominion Experimental Kkarms and Stations across Canada is virtually a monument to the work he began 50 years ago, and the new g above stands upon the site of his former home.
