ALL SCHOOLS TO OPEN FOR AUTUMN TERM ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 Tuesday, September Ist, will see the opening of all government controlled schools in Ontario this year. We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is the law and a little notice may be advisable. An amendment to the School Act, passed at the last session of the legislature, provides that Septem- ber Ist will be the opening date, except when it falls on a Friday, and there is no help for it. The term will extend Tuesday, December 22nd, this year, according to the revised schedule. When the 22nd falls on a Monday an exception will be made, however, and when the date of opening after New Year's falls on a Friday the extra holi- day will be granted. until ANNOUNCEMENT On Saturday last, August 8th, the announcement was made of the engagement of Miss Mary Eleanor Harkness, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew H.
