Bartell of Giants Hit Homers; Bad Eighth Inning Carl Hubbell pitched and _bat- ted the New York Giants to their 'first !series victory at the Polo Grounds yesterday afternoon, by limiting the famed Murderer's Row and their team-mates to seven hits, and clouting two hits himself, the final one, a dinky roller which took a hop over Tony Lazzeri's shoulder, and before be- ing recovered, allowed three runs to scamper across the plate and leave King Carl perched on third base. Hubbell struck out eight Yan- kees and walked none, while Red Ruffing yielded nine hits while setting down five Giant batters on strikes. 'The boys have not had a great deal of experience, but are eager and willing to learn, which goes to make for exciting football. Tomorrow afternoon the lads go to Liskeard for a_ scheduled joust with the Farming Town|e lads, and if they secure "the ver- dict, will be in commanding posi- tion, with two home games left on the list.
