Thompson of North Bay is head of the publishing company. size various en Boy Fatally Injured Phirteen-year-old Lyman _ Dill- man of Golden City was crushed last night between the rear of his father's truck and the front of a car. He died in South Porcupine Hospital early this morning. The driver of the truck had stopped it on the street in Golden City and had got out to see if a culvert was safe enough to hold up the heavy load. Lyman was standing at the rear of the truck when a car driven by W. Brewer of Timmins came up behind. -- Porcupine Advance. ------O- Sees Open Winter Second-time pussy willows is the latest phenomenon of a rath- er unusual October reported to the office of The Northern News here by William Coffield, 47 Dixon Avenue, who exhibits proof of his observation picked from the Black Townsite property in the south end of the city. Mr. Coffield, who works for Ontario Construction Company, says it's the only time he ever re- members pussy willows blooming twice in the season and claims it is a sure sign of an open winter, a prediction which he says gets further backing from the fact fact that snakes are still above ground.--Northern News. Call Railway Toaders Tenders were called on Thurs- day last for construction work on the new 101-mile line of the Can- adian National Railways through the northwestern Quebec mining area from Senneterre to Rouyn, and after October 15 announce- ment may be expected that the contract has been awarded. There are two important bridges to be built. One of them the so-called Narrows between Lake Lemoine and Lake Dubuisson, and the other over the crosses Kinojevis river, which crosses the new line nine miles east of Rouyn.
