Price of Pough- keepsie, N.Y., and William Hotti of Lake Penage. T. H. Kinning- ton, guide of the party, walked 44 miles to the nearest railway point to get a train out and to send word of the plight of the hunters.--Sudbury Star. ----fy: Suicides With Dynamite Shutting himself in a shed at the rear of 117 Carter Avenue yesterday afternoon, Sam Semple 27, committed suicide with dyna- mite shortly after five o'clock. He had announced his iatention of doing so in the afterncon, but friends and relatives paid no at- tention as he had been talking of ending his life for three months "You'll see,' he told them in the afternoon Semple came into town about a week ago after working at the Erie-Canadian Mine. -- Northern News. Fatal Lumber Camp Fire When the lumber camp in which they were employed caught fire on Thursday night last, Henry Turunen, 42, of Hearst and Louis Bienvenu, 60, from New Bruns- wick, lost their lives in the flames, while several others of the 125 men asleep in the camp at the time suffered injuries from burns. The camp was located 38 miles south of Kapuskasing, at Redpine Lake, and was operated by the Spruce Falls Paper Com- pany. The fire started in a dry- ing room between two bunk- houses, according to repoits, and the flames spread rapidly as the men slept. gee Start New Railway Line The contract for the building of ~~ the new branch line of the Can- adian National Railways from Rouyn to Senneterre, a distance of 10 miles, has been let to Fred Mannix, Calgary, Alta., contrac- tor, and a start is to be made im- mediately. The contract is for the clearing, grading and bridg- ing necessary complete the right-of-way and this part of the work is to be completed by next fall. The new railway will serve several of the newer mining dist- ricts in Northern Quebec, as well as farming settlements.
