The Avro Anson has made history, so it is altogether likely that the Manchester will do likewise. The Manchester is unique in the fact that it is the only one of the so-called "heavies" equipped with two engines instead of four. But what engines they are! Twenty-four cylinder Rolls-Royce Vultures--and while no official data is provided, it is easy to guess that they must be rated close to 2,000-h.p. each. This huge aircraft of 90' wing span is an all-metal, mid-wing monoplane, and designed for ease and speed in large-scale preduction. It is completely fitted with modern de-icing equipment and cabin-heating is installed. Bomb load is not published, nor is the speed admitted, but it must be in the neighborhood of 300 miles per hour. Armament is heavy, with two machine-guns in the nose, two in the upper gun turret and a further four in the "tail stinger'--all operate from power-driven turrets.
