Albert McCreary Was In Chaplain Service and Ordained at Aldershot Rev. Albert McCreary, who as a student pastor conducted ser- vices in a number of Baptist churches in Temiskaming district before the war, and who was or- dained in England recently to the ministry of that communion, has 'been killed in action, according to information in a letter from Rey. D. A. Timpany, former pas- tor of the New Liskeard Baptist church, to a friend on the staff of The Temiskaming Speaker, W. E. Fielding. Mr. Timpany wrote that he had taken part in a mem- orial service for Captain Albert McCreary, who he said had been killed before the end of hositlitie: in Europe. |. »Mr: Timpany wrote that Capt. McCreary had been ordained in the Baptist church at Aldershot last March 30. He had gone to Britain as a lieutenant (apparent- ly in the combatant forces) and had been persuaded by his own O.C. to transfer to the chaplain service. Arrangements had been made for his ordination by the church in England on behalf of the Baptist Convention of Onta- rio and Quebec, and Mr. Timpany said the service was unique, so far as he knew. At the memorial service, the mayor of Aldershot and his wife were present, together with army representatives and dignitaries ol the church, and many tributes were paid to his memoryg Mr Timpany wrote. Mr. McCreary was stationed in Haileybury some seven or eight years ago and held regular ser- vices inthe church here as a stu- dent pastor. He had also been for a time at Englehart and later at Chaput-Hughes, and he was a graduate of McMaster Univer- sity. No information as to how or where he met his death was given. A nice rain early this week proved a boon for the late gar- deners and the crop may yet be quite satisfactory. Election returns for New Lis- keard give Walter Little 632 votes, F. H. Todd 458, C. C.
