Mr. R. J. Ennis, a pioneer mining man of the North, who for nearly forty years was the manager of the big McIntyre Mine, and who has been a leader in the industrial development and community lite of the North, will officiate at the formal opening of the Exhibition in the McIntyre Community Buildings and grounds, Sept. 13 to 19, both days inclusive. There is a positive fitness in having so particularly a Northern man open this particularly Northern Exhibition. ; This year's exhibition again will feature the seed grain, vege- tables and honey of this North. Although the North is known to excel in these lines, the agricult- ural show last year surprised all at the quality and quantity of ex- hibits shown. This year the sponsors expect even a_ bigger and better agricultural show. Much the same may be said in regard to the hundreds of dis- displays of food products and household appliances that will be on exhixbit, as well as _ the booths for commerical displays and manufacturing exhibits. This year, as last, the beauty show is a special attraction. More entries are expected than last year. Timmins and Schumacher have already declared their selec- tions, and Ansonville and Iroquois Falls choose "Miss Abitibi' this week. As the contest is open to all communities in the whole North, it is expected that a record group of beauties will pe assem- bled here for the finals. Contests and competitions of all kinds are featured, with big prizes in each case.
