The wives of local members of the Temiskaming Bar Association entertained the visiting wives of the Temiskaming, Nipissing and Cochrane Bar Associations at tea at the Golf Club on Saturday af- ternoon last. Several friends of Mrs. Leo Larabie held a kitchen shower for her at the Legion hall last evening. Playing games was the order of the night. Mrs. Larabie had the misfortune to have all her kitchen equipment destroyed by fire recently. The number of Bingo players is increasing as the grand prize gets bigger and bigger in the bi-weekly games run by the Le- gion ladies. Alfie is doing dental work in the vicinity of Sherbrooke, P.Q. for a month and then plans to practice in London, Ont, oar } OBITUARY } 13) JOSEPH LAROCQUE The death of Joseph Larocque, long time resident of Haileybury and former owner of the Ideal Dairy, occurred in Montreal on Monday, June 2nd. Mr. Laroc- que would have been seventy-five this month. His wife pre-deceased him some fifteen years ago and he is sur- vived by twelve children, all of whom will be here for the funeral Friday morning at nine o'clock in Holy Cross Churéh. The body is presently resting at the home of his son, Raoul Larocque, West Road. Mrs. Jack Murphy returned from Chicago this week, where she had gone to meet her daugh- ter, Kathie, who was returning home from Tucson, Arizona, where she has attended school for the winter.
