Smith after a lengthy illness. : Burney who was fifteen years of age was born in Noranada. He started his schooling at Hailey- bury public school and with the exception of three years when his family moved to Kirkland Lake, completed his eduction here en- tering High School last Septem- ber His ability as a leader, his en- thusiasm and his personality com- bined to single him out as a most popular Patrol Leader and he will be sadly missed by his fellow Scouts. Last year, he was among those who went to North Bay to take the Bronze Arrowhead Course for Scout Leaders. Besides his parents he is surviv- ed by his two brothers, J. W. ((Rusty) of Keno City, Yukon, Raymond Roy at home, and three sisters, Mrs. R. E. Armstrong (Jean) of Kitchener and Mary EI- eanor and Elizabeth Ann at home The funeral service was held in the United Church on Tuesday af- ternoon. In the absence of the Rev, A. T. Denholm, the service was conducted by Rev, Wm. C. Kitto of New Liskeard. The pall- bearers were Robert Gilkes, Billy Tyson, Stephen Bond, Charlie Camsell and Gordon Connelly of the Boy Scouts and Tommy Beas- ley. The guard of honor consist- ed of six Boy Scouts--Dick Walli, John Hallworth, Anthony Doran, Peter McGinley, Donald Mills and Reginald McIntyre.
