Mitchell and sons, Ronald and Douglas of Kirkland Lake are in town visiting with Mrs. Mitchell's mother, Mrs. N. McAulay and with her brother, Mr. Neil McAulay and his wife. Mr, and Mrs, Murray Cawley of Rouyn spent the week-end visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E, Cawley and Mr. and Mrs. A. Speicher en route ine from a holiday stay at ace : of Bays. Corporal Jack Dewson and Don motored to Toronto last week-end and returned Monday, accompanied by their sister, Barbara, who is holidaying with her parents, Mr, and Mrs, John Dewson. Mr J. S: Weir and his brother, Mr Armar Weir of Norwood, On- tario, motored to North Carolina to attend the marriage of their niece, Sandra, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Weir of Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina. Inspector and Mrs. Creasy .of Barrie arrived in town on Tues- day and are camping at Cap. Burns' Tourist Camp. They are planning open house on Friday evening, July 25th and extend an invitation to their many friends to come and enjoy an old time evening together, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Brown, their daughter Amy Jo and son, Douglas of Leoti, Kansas, accom- panied by Mrs. Brown's sister, Mrs. G. W Blom of Minneapolis, Minn., motored from the States last week to visit with their uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ter- rill. Mrs. Brown, who was born in Haileybury is the former Amy Hooper and this is her first visit since leaving here in 1919. Mrs. Blom was a_ visitor. here last summer, --_-- 7 Mrs. N. J. McAulay Sr., re turned home on Friday last after visiting her daughter, Mrs. S. Kallies and Mr. Kallies in Ham- ilton. During her three weeks of holidaying, Mrs. McAulay visited several other points and called on old Haileyburians who sent their regards to their friends here, They were the Lee Stitts of London, Mrs. Judsox (the former Mrs. Dick Ratcliffe, St. Catharines, Mr, & Mrs, H: Wood- house, New Toronto, Rev and Mrs .Spencer, Long Branch and Mr and Mrs. Grant_ Guest of Sheffield. Apply 29 Brewster St. CORDWOOD FOR SALE Jackpine, Birch and Poplar Phone 349 HAILEYBURY FUEL CO. o <7 OBLiUARY Lecce ecrecccoccecs Se Edward Butler Word was received recently of the death of Edward Butler at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Mr. Butler was in his seventy- second year, Born in Kilkenny, Ireland, he enlisted in the armed services in February, 1915, and served with the 15th Battalion, C.E.F., and among other decorations was awarded the 1914-1915 Mons Star, Mr. Butler was well known in Cobalt and Haileybury as his in- terest was in mining .in his ear- lier years. Later he was connect- ed with the Canadian Splint fac- tory. Mrs. H. R. Park The death of Mrs. Hugh Ram- say Park, which occurred in the Toronto General Hospital on Monday, July 2lst, severs an- other link with the early days of Cobalt and Haileybury. Mrs. Park had been a resident of the North Country since 1907, when she came to Cobalt with her hus- band, the late Hugh Park, who was for many years manager of the Nipissing Mining Company and later president: In later years, Mrs. Park took up residence in Toronto, spending the summer months at the Nip- issing property. She attended St. Paul's Angli- can Church in Haileybury and was a member of the Haileybury Golf Club, at One time serving as President. Surviving her are two sons, Ramsay, who is practicing law in Trenton and Peter, a student in theology at Winnipeg, and one daughter, Diana, at home.
