THURS, SEPTEMBER 18, 1952 THE HAILEYBURIAN Golf Club Dance Closes the Season on Saturday Night _ Officially, the Golf Club and all its activities closed on Saturday night with a dance and the pre- sentation of prizes won through- out a wonderful season for sport. A record attendance for the year enjoyed the evening. Mr. R A H. Taylor, president of the club, acted as chairman, presenting the Taylor Cup to Mrs, R.A, Murphy and Billie Tuer, who combined to win the honors. Winner of the Mens' Club Championship was Harry Kemp of New Liskeard, who defeated his brother in the final match. He also won the Bagshaw trophy and alist of the other winners of the Men's events was not avail- able. " Ladies' president Mrs. R. Murphy, assisted by Mrs. S. Bond presented the prizes to the ladies. That displays at Fairs by the Department of Lands and For- ests always draw a great deal of attention and admiration, but at the New Liskeard Fair, the For- estry exhibit of two bears, a pair of pheasants and abeaver locked up in cages on a hot night, drew a lot of adverse criticism. Hilll-Clark-Francis Annual Golf Tourney Hill-Clark-Francis employees and their wives came from Sud- bury, Timmins, Bourlamaque, Kirkalnd Lake, Port Arthur last week-end to participate in the company's two day annual tour- nament, Thirty-five golfers entered the competition which wound up on. Sunday night with a banquet and the presentation of a trophy and prizes by. the Brantford Roofing Company. There will also be a Suitable display of the harvest of the land. The vege- tables will be distributed later to the needy of the community.
