Time of these lessons is 4-5.30 Wednes- day: and 2-5 Sunday. The possi- bility of having classes for adults was also discussed Duck Season Efoepeate Good ~The duck season is well under way in Canada and everywhere the outlook is for a good supply of ducks and marksmen. A recent Canadian Press survey shows flights of ducks heavy, mostly pintails and mallards in the west and black and mallards in the east. -Ammunition is - plentiful and in Ontario is cheap- er by from eight to ten percent than last year Farmers in Southern atperta are not as happy as the hunters because ~the 'birds out that way are so numerous that they are becoming a drain on the budget, appearing like magic as soon as the farmer has swathed a grain field and cleaning it out. Scare- crows are useless too, so farm- ers have been issued permits al- lowing them to recruit up to TRIPS EACH WAY EVERY DAY LEAVE NORTH BAY 9.20 a.m. 4.20 p.m. 11.45 p.m. STANDARD TIME Single Return $7.15 $12.90 UNION BUS TERMINAL NORTH BAY PHONE 101-2-3 1-3 Saturday. Classes " seven other persons to kill the robbers. The earliest shooting began September Ist in north British Columbia and Manitoba and the latest day for the sport in Cana- da is January 10th in SOIC Nova Scotia. Bag limits is most provinces is seven a day with fourteen the possession limit but Alberta al- lows eight and sixteen and Sask- atchewan ten and twenty. Nova Scotia has a limit of one hundred | for the season. United States sportsmen may well do all their shooting at home this year since the ban on taking venison home will dampen their § ardour for hunting any game in Canada. The ban arose out of the foot and mouth disease. Quebec expects more hunters -than ever before, perhaps 90,000. 4 British Columbia looks for 55,000. Here, where duck hunting areas are none too plentiful, 30,000 are expected to pursue the sport. Wood ducks are fairly plentiful in Ontario but only one a day may be taken. Highest cost of a resident li- cense is $4.00 in British Colum- bia. Ontario and Quebec charge residents the least, $1.00 and $1.10. NEW LISKEARD SENIORS EDGE MINING STUDENTS, 6-0 4 In their first clash of the sea- son, New Liskeard High School Senior football team outpointed § Haileybury Mining School, 6-0, in a gamé played at New Lis- % keard Thursday afternoon. A single point kicked by McKenzie § and an uncoverted touchdown by McKenzie also, accounted for the & entire scoring. In the first half the heavier i Mining School line bucked thro § the New Liskeard line for several first downs but couldn't capitalize because of penalties incurred in line play. The lighter and faster New Liskeard team ran the Min- § ers tired. In the second half McKenzie kicked on third down for a sin- gle point. Many © observers thought the Liskeard quarter- back would try for a field goal but the latter didn't take any chances, . The game became heated and roughness on the Liskeard side resulted in one player being ban- ished from the field. Not long after a Mining School player was sent to the showers for unneces- sary roughness. The Mining~School attempted several passes in an effort to get into scoring position but could not seem to gain any ground. With two minutes to go Parcher threw a long pass which the fleet footed McKenzie caught on the run and glided 50 yards for the only touchdown of the tilt. The officials handled the game well, cracking down on all rule infringements. Other than' the one brief fracas the game was fairly clean. Officials for Thurs- day's game were: Referee, Doug Walsh; umpire, A. Kelly head- linesman Mr. Lickley. Cobalt and New Liskeard Sen iors are tied now each having one game left with the Mining School "Tdleness is only the refuge of weak minds, and the holiday of fools. I look upon indolence asa form of suicide."--Lord Chester- field (who was born. wealthy). Did you know that lions roar with their heads toward the ground, adding to the vol- ume of sound. 19 22222152222 2D DOGO Daas Served : 12.00 to 1.30 p.m. J 'Something to DINNER at | Haileybury |; a a a a din tn ten tt tk Sing About' 6.00 to 8.00 p.m. You will Enjoy "SONGS TO REMEMBER" EVERY SATURDAY CJKL 4.15 p.m. Coming - First District Showing STRAND - Haileybury CLASSIC - Cobalt OCTOBER 29-30 OCT. 31 - NOV. 1st E GREATEST JUNGLE SPECTACLE EVER FILMED!
