"> Mitts, "newly-weds "THE HA ILEYBURIAN THURS., OCTOBER 30th, 1952 Kinsmen Club to Sponsor Midget Hockey Team Haileybury will ice a Midget hockey team again this year. Enthusiastic plans for a strong team got off to a good start ata meeting last Sunday evening in Hotel Haileybury, A turnout of fourteen lads from North Cobalt and Haileybury were given the plans for the sea- son by Charlie Camsell, who act- ed in the absence of Coach Arthur Stollery. Sponsored by the Kins- men Club, the team will be man- aged by Jack Hallworth and enter the circuit which includes Engle- hart, Cobalt and New Liskeard. In other years, teams from Haileybury have gone into the first game with the odds against them as, due to the lack of ice, 'they have had a minimum length of time to get into shape. This year, however, a real effort will be made to raise necessary funds to secure ice in New Liskeard for seven or eight practices. Discussion took place on the dressing rooms which are in need of a coat of paint and more ade- quate heating. In co-operation with the Kins- men Club, the boys will sell tic- kets for the Grey Cup finals. The winner will enjoy an all-expense trip to Toronto and two reserved seats to the game. The boys who attended the meeting are as follows:: John Hallworth, A. Doran, G. Connel- ly, Ronald Parent. Bill Tyson, Sheldon Dobbs, Paul Grignon, G Camsell, x. Gilkas, M. McKinley, A. School Beats New Liskeard, 8-5 In the final game of the Senior Tri-Town football. schedule play- ed at New Liskeard Friday after- noon Haileybur y Mining School defeated New Liskeard High School Seniors, 8-5. ~ New Liskeard scored first when McKenzie ran over for a major which was not converted. The Miners came back strong in the second quarter and scoreda single when McKelvie kicked on a third down. : In the third quarter the heav- ier Haileybury squad bucked their way for three successive first downs. Quarterback Par- cher threw a twenty-yard pass which McKelvie gathered in. deep in New Liskeard territory. On the next play McKelvie car- ried the ball to the New Liskeard one-yard line, cunningly hiding the ball by holding it straight down by his side. Parcher went over on the quarterback sneak for the major which was convert- ed, to make the score 7-5. Late in the fourth quarter the Miners attempted a field goal from the 30-yard line at a rather tricky angle. tempt was no good but the Min- ers scored a single point on the play when Taylor of Liskeard was rouged behind the goal-line. Taylor, a great Junior runner, sustained a severe ankle injury and had to be carried off the field. Time ran out on the Liskeard squad, who tried to get back the three-point difference, leaving the The three-point at- " final score 8-5. As a result of this game Cobalt High School Seniors win the Tri-Town Cup. New Liskeard Seniors and Mining School, both "B" selwools, will play off for the B" championship.
