Authorizd as Second-Class Mail, Post Office Department, Ottawe 'I Will Honor Christmas in My Heart, and Try to Keep It All the Year The pages of history are stud- ded with the names of a multi- tude of great and glorious men which live on from generation to generation. But only one left a message of such power that almost twenty centuries later, this world is even yet overwhelmed with the glory of His birth and the message of His teachings for which He lived and died. The pulse of every man quickens at this season as he senses the magnificence of the moment. In the face of the simplest beauties of our every day life mere human speech breaks down. And so it is that we will turn to the familiar carols; we will light up.a Northern pine; we will send a Christmas card across the land; we will speak warm thoughts to friend and foe alike wtih a new sense of love which no man can deny within him. Christ's birth was a miracle. It is no less of a miracle that millions of people in every land will unite with one voice on Christmas Day to hail the power ot His Nam e Living in a caught up in a moves too swiftly, often weary and wondering why, we must grasp the significant fact that it was the simplicity of Christ's life it was the loving kindness of the man--it was His goodwill to all mén which brought peace into the hearts of all those who have followed in His steps. The spirit which shines through Christmas must send. forth its beams the year 'round or the chaotic world, daily life that whole panorama of the seasonis nothing but an empty bubble. THE POOR SPORT No matter what the field, this life has no room for the fellow who cannot play fair and observe the rules. A true hunter fisherman is one who loves the sport and respects his game. At one time or another, even the most well known sportsman has taken a certain amount oj delight in slyly admitting that he had a little something in his sat- chel that was caught out of sea- son, On the surface, we all con- gratulate him on his prize, but inwardly his reputation sinks a notch, Somewhere in the vicinity is a man who shot and wounded a bull moose on the West Road during a closed season. 'The moose has not yet been found and no doubt the violator will never be found. At a time when the Depart- iment of Lands and Forests are doing yeoman service to try and preserve the wild life of this country, it is a poor show if this is the kind of co-operation they can expect. The only bright note in the whole affair is that viola- tions in this area, according tc the Game Overseer, are at a min- imum, Further north the recorc is not so good. We might make further prog- ress if we followed the example of a small town in the Northern States which regularly publishes in bold type, the names of each and every one in the area whc violates the rules of the game.
