C. Inch, in a landslide victory totalling 592 votes to Mr. Inch's 224. Swept into office with him were four candidates put forward by the Cobalt Businessmen's Asso- ciation. John Damiani toppec the poll with 413 votes. Of the four members of the 1952 coun- cil who stood for re-election only Gus Nadeau 347 votes, and Wilf Moriarty, 261 votes, were returned to office. The new council will consist of Mayor Ken Buffam, 593 votes: John Damiani, 413 votes; Gus Nadeau, 347 votes; Tom Despres 347 votes; Percy Lemon. 331 votes; Eric Smith, 305 votes and Wilf Moriarty, 261. Defeated candidates include Charles Abrahaw:, 251 votes; C Jack McGarry 182; Hugh McDonald, 179; Elmer Parcher, 178 and Harold La- frange, 166.
