John Damiani toppec the poll with 413 votes. Of the four members of the 1952 coun- cil who stood for re-election only Gus Nadeau 347 votes, and Wilf Moriarty, 261 votes, were returned to office. Sopha, two* years on council who had stated he would run for Mayor if Mr. Buffam did not stand, The trend of the voting was evident early in the game when results from two polls gave Buf- fam 122 to Inch's 40. The defeated candidate public- ly conceded his defeat at the Community 'Hall in Cobalt and wished the Mayor and his coun- cil the best of luck in 1953. "If was a good fight', he said, "and 1 enjoyed it." In response to the warm ova- tion given to him, Mr. Buffam appeared to be deeply moved and said "I want to thank everybody who voted for me And as for those who didn't, there are ne hard feelings and we'll all work together to keep Cobalt the best old town in the North."
