Leccccccccccccccccccssorrh j OBITUARY { a Oo WARRINER The death of George Allen Warriner occurred on Sunday December 28th in Sunnybrook Hospital, where he had been a patient for two months. Born in 1898 at Yorkshire England, Mr. Warriner came to Canada twenty-eight years ago and settled in Sarnia.. While living in Toronto, he joined the Veterans' Guard and shortly after came to the North Country in 1942. He was tmploy- ed with the Wabi Iron Works in New Liskeard where he acted as foreman in the yard. In 1944, he married Sarah Sutheran of Haileybury and for- formely of Durham, England, who survives him. Other survivors are two stepsons, Tom and Jack Sutheran of MHaileybury three sisters in England and two brothers, Thomas and Bill, of Sarnia. Rev. D. Knox conducted the funeral service and burial was in the Veterans' Plot, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Haileybury. Pallbearers were W. H. Davis Arthur Davis, Harvey Benoit and Alfred Seed of Haileybury, Lloyd Palmer of North Cobalt and John Watchhorne of New Lis- keard. Ralph Ingleby, OC o the CobaltHaileybury Salvation Army Corps since February, 1951 has been notified that he ig to re- port for duty at the Whitby SA citadel next week. Lieut. Ingleby has done good work in this field and his many friends will regret his removal] from this district and at the same time wish him success in his new work, He will be suc- ceeded here by Second Lieuten- ant B Craddock from Whitby The two are exchanging charges Lieut. W. Storms, who came tc Cobalt last July as Lieut, Ingle- by's assistant, has also received notice from headquarters that he will be moved to a new field. Born in Iroquois Falls, Lieut Ingleby has always been partial] to the North Cotmtry and spoke of how much he had enjoyed hic charge here. He expressed his appreciation of those who had sc ably assisted him inthe annual Red Shield campaign and wished to thank his many friends for their continued help through the year. His successor, Mr. Craddock was born in England and lived in Victoria, B.C, before coming to Toronto to study at the Booth Memorial College. He was a fellow graduate of Lieut. Ingle- by, both being members of the class of 1950. His post in the area will bring him to the North for the first time as his work has been in Southern Ontario towns since his graduation, Report on Ground Water Beneficial to Farmers The report on Ground Water in Ontario has just been publish- ed by the Ontario Department of Mines is expected to enjoy wide readership among farmers in the Province. The report has been made available without charge on application to the Publica- tions branch of the Department. It deals with considerable detail with the general occurrence of ground water, fluctuations of water tables in various parts of Southern Ontario as revealed by observation wells, and a descrip- tion of geological formations with their water-bearing poten- tialities. ; The work includes a review of water-well legislation passed jince 1945 when ground water Studies and the collection of data pertaining to them were begun. Also included is a list of licen- ced water well drillers in all areas. Finally a comprehensive table indicates ground water data and logs of almost 1200 wells. This report is the first of a proposed series to supply accur- ate data on the ground water resources of Ontario, based on information obtained from ob- servation wells and thousands of other wells drilled throughout the Province every year. In the year up to June 1, 1952, new immigrants arrived in Can- ada at the rate of 590 each day; in the same period 332 Canadians died each day, 145 emigrated, and there were 1,036 births, giving Canada a net population increase fo 4,149 per day.
