In his capacity of manager of Eldorado Mines, Mr. Walli had the distinction of be- ing the first man to operate a uranium mine in Canada. Just before and during the early part of the war, Mr. Walli was in charge of Macalder Gold Mines in Kenya, Africa, which position he left to join the Fed- eral Government Service in the scarch for uranium ores. In 1945, he was manager of Shawkey Gold Mine and more recently Nesbitt-Labine Urani- um. At the time of his death he was associated with both Nesbitt- Labine and Gunnar Gold Mines He was a member of the Pro- fessional Engineers of Ontario. With his passing, the mining industry has lost a man who has contributed much to the de- velopment of uranium in Canada He is survived by his wife and two sons, Eric and Donald, pre- sently living in Edmonton; alse surviving him are two brothers O. E. Walli of Haileybury and J. A. Walli of Cartier, and- two sis-- ters, Mrs. Harry Gibson and Mrs. Harold Smith of Copper Cliff, ST. PAUL'S W. A. Canon Goodier addressed the members and thanked them for their splendid work during the past year and for their co-opera- ation in the work of the church. During his talk he stressed the need for more clergy and more young women to take up mis- sionary work in the church and hoped that the members of the W.A. would try to impress this , need on the young people. There were twenty-two members ond four visitors present. The mem- bers answered the roll call, "A Favorite Christmas Carol." Plans were made to hold the children's party at the home of Mrs. Mawhiney on December 8 Santa Claus will make his annual visit to the children. There were four birthday cups . Johnson joined the Institute Mrs. Campbell had a beautiful Christmas tree decorated in the hall at which each member placed a gift.
