E Dr. and Mrs. Walter Hitchfeld of Montreal and Mr. and Mrs. U. Tucher of Vienna ,Austria, were guests last week at the home of Mrs. Hitchfeld's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. Morissette. The Women's Auxiliary of the Haileybury United Church will hold their annual fall meeting at the home of Mrs. A. W. Sander- son, Browning St., at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28th. All visitors are welcome. Herb Allsopp of the OPP staff, Toronto was in town this week fora few days. He was enjoying a visit with old friends as it 1s twenty yéars since he has been in town. At that time he was with the OPP motorcycle squad. SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSES HEAVY DAMAGE AT J. M .ROBB'S HOME It was a dismal Tesday evening, witha high wind and a lashing rain when the firebell rang out at' supper time:. A Hydro pole toppled over on Brewster Street and a short circuit set fire to the kitchen wall at the home of J.M. Robb on the Lake Shore Road. Firemen were able to bring th fire quickly under control as evening traffic was diverted up Brewster and Florence.
