FREE PARKING Fun for Young and Old PLAYGROUND CAPERS By Jane Ledwell Monday July Ist. marked, among other things, the opening of the Haileybury Public play- ground. The attendance was re- atively low the first few days because of our unpredictable weather conditions and the long holiday week-end. However the attendance has increased and when passing through the playground one will see children everywhere busily occupied at the handicraft tables playing the ever-popular base- ball or-dodge ball or hsteming to stories. The playground hours are 10. 00 to 12.00 am. and 2. 00 to 4.00 p.m. We have been giving the child- ren tennis lessons during the playground hours in an attemp to stimulate their interest in the game and to develope their skill. We then hope to have a tennis tournament for the playgroutd children. This week, on Friday afternoon at 2.00 p.m. the Playground will have a Field Day which will in- clude novelty races, and comp- etitive games. All parents are welcome. ; | 1 | Mervin Kelly | Licensed Electrician Phone 4667 COBALT WE ARE MAKERS OF STANDARD CEMENT BLOCKS Plains -- Halves -- Rock Face -- Sash Blocks Chimney Blocks We make Blocks in Stand- ard Sizes:- 4in. -- 6 in. ae -- 10 in.
