- rousing business, THURS., NOVEMBER 7, 1957 ACROSS the KITCHEN TABLE By Mrs. Mac. Across the Kitchen Table Snow! Snow!! Beautiful Snow!!! The weather in this district is very hard to get along with. Last. week I was bragging about strawberries and roses and shortely after we went to press On Thursday, there: was a snow drift across the office door that two men _ couldn't- shake hands over. Oh, well, by the time this is in print, the skies will probably: be blue again, the mud will all be dried wp and every- thing will be lovely. Don't we always get Indian summer after the first snowfall? JOROIOK Last. Thursday morning when IT was coming to work, a car was in the ditch just this side of Liskeard. The -ditch was not ~ very deep but the car was flat. on its top with the wheels in the air Farther along the road we saw: several places where « cars had been off the road. And from noon on, cars were skidding 'all over the street in front of the office, tow trucks were doing a and in spots, several different shades of blue. A day of this sort is what really makes one appreciate "Old Dobbin-and the one-horse shay." It always gave me such a_ nice feeling of space enough to move around in, when~the stove went out, but the first evening after it was moved in again gave us such a feeling of cosiness and warmth that we felt old King Winter could blow his hardest and we wouldn't care. But to this day, I think the only reason my husband puts up with the electric stove is because it doesn't need to be moved each spring and fall. Want Ads. It is possible that many mem- bers of the Association as well as those who, though employed by the province have never joined up, have a rather vague idea of what has been done for them by the Association from its President - District Direct- ors down to the Branch officers and executive. Space does not permit the listing of all im- provements and financial gains but it will suffice to say that were it not for the continuing efforts of the Association your conditions of employment would now be on a par -with that of 1950. The Annual Meeting of the Association as a whole is held each year in November. During the year the various Branches submit resolutions on problems which they wish to have dis- cussed and voted upon at the Annual. The Resolutions com- mittee complies these and for- wards a copy of all resolutions made to each Branch. The Branch studies these and calls a general meeting to pre- sent them to the members and thus get their opinion on how they wish their delegate to vote when called upon 'to do so. That, in brief, was the purpose of the meeting on October, 25th. If you wish to have any voice in the operation of your Branch and thus in the Association, attend all general meetings when called upon to do so. South Temiskam- ing will be represente! at the Annual, by Mrs. Jean Dunn, ave Bowen and foe Tanning. t wish io make clear that>no 2embe receives ai pay for services rendered [Expenses are paid those who - attend at Dist- rict or Annnal meetings One of the results of the An- nual « year ago wa; the format- ion of Amco (Anunal Meeting Committee on Organization). The purpose of Amco was to make a complete study of the Association. Were any amend- ments or addition; necessary to the constitutions?.. With the Associzion would it be neces- sary to hire personnel to take care of increased business? They studied the financial require- ments and computed what in- crease in dues might be needed. They discussed the power and authority of the board of Direc- tors. Another question was that of leadership and training in Association affairs, This will give yowa broad outline of Amco. ; On Sunday, October 27th, a District meeting was held at Cochrane.
