Members of the Gospel Hall congregation held a Christmas treat for the children last weel when the greater part of the program was provided by he children. A film, "Tammy" was shown and gifts presented to the children. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Craig will have their daughter, Miss Doro- thy Craig of Ottawa and their son, Roy of the Helen Mine, Wawa, with them for the Christmas holiday. Mr. and Mrs. T, G. Tulloch and Mrs. Tulloch Sr., who were in Toronto for the wedding of their daughter, Glenna on- Sat- urday, December 21, will spend the Christmas holiday in the city. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cragg are holiday visitors with their son, Jack and Mrs. Cragg, at Elliot Lake. Corrigan of Tpronto are spending the holiday season with their son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Morissette, THE QUEEN'S MESSAGE In the United Kingdom this year for the first time Her Majesty the Queen will broad- cast her Christmas message on television as well as on radio, speaking from her home at San- dringham in Norfolk. The mes- sage will go simultaneously by radio to all parts of the world and will be relayed in Canada on the C.B.C., radio and T.V. net- works, and will be heard on all stations. On CBC-TV, still pho- tographs will be on the screen while Her Majesty is speaking. It is 25 years since the first Christmas Day message by the Sovereign was broadcast by King George V, in 1932. The messages have been heard every Christmas since then except in 1936 (the year of the Abdicat- ion) and in 1938. In 1951, when King George VI was ill, the broadcast was recorded. PRELUDE TO THE QUEEN For the period immediately preceding the Queen's. message the B.B.C. has prepared, for ra- dio, another of the traditional Christmas Day programs from around the Commonwealth and, for television, a film entitled "Prelude to the Queen."
