She also visited relatives in Haileybury and relatives and friends in Cobalt. Mrs. Harry Cooper attended the funeral of her uncle, Her- bert (Doc) Fildes in Toronto on Thursday. He died in Sunny- brooke hospital on January 13, and wa sburied in Toronto. Mrs. J. C. McAlpine has re- turned from her trip to Toronto Buffalo and other (points. While in Buffalo she had lunch with Mrs. Lorne H. Eyres of Tort Erie. Her husband was formerly manager of the Bank of Com- merce in Cobalt. Mrs. Fyres wished to be remembered to all her friends in Cobalt. Noel Ramey, Temagami, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B, Ramey . Miss Valerie Herbert spent a week convalescing at her par- ents home Mr. and Mrs. Bob Herbert after a_ tonsillectomy operation at Misericordia hosp- ital Haileybury. Bobs Herbert MLP.P., left Tuesday, on a_ business trip to Toronto for a few days. Robert Warren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Warren is convalescing after surgery in Misericordia Hospital, Hailey- bury. Alvin Turgeon R.C.A.F., Down view Base, Toronto, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Turge- on and family over the weekend. District Commissoner Giovan- ella, represented Mrs. H. Grise of Kirkland Area Camp Adviser for the Northland Area at the Provincial Conference at Can- adian Girl Guides Headquarters Toronto. She left Friday and attended the conference Saturday. and visited with her friends Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dolson of Lakeview on Sunday. She arrived home on Monday. COBALT TEENS The Cobalt Teen Town Club held their dance on January 11, in the Community Hall in Cobalt. Miss Rose Charlebois of New Liskeard and Guy Beeson of Co- balt were the spot dance prize winners, The sophisticates from North Bay will supply the music for a semi-formal dance which will be held in the Community Hall on May 2, Four prominent Cobalt couples and the parents of the executive members of the Club will be invited to act as chape- rones. The Club has decided to buy _ a new record player. COBALT OBITUARY Mrs. George Bigelow Mrs. George Bigelow passed away suddenly on Sunday, Jan- uary 12, at 6.30 p.m. at her home in West Cobalt. She had been ailing for some time but went into a coma on Saturday, and never rallied. She was married to Mr, Bige- low 59 years ago and then mov- ed to Cobalt. They have lived all their lives at West Cobalt. The funeral rites were held at St. James' Anglican Church with Rey. George Johnston officiat- ing. She was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery Haileybury. in the family plot. The Pall-bearers were: Victor Bigelow, Ronald Bigelow, Ver- dun Bigelow, Lorne Bigelow, Garry Bigelow and Russell Mur- phy all of Cobalt. Suvrivors are her husband and four daughters, Mrs. Lloyd May- berry, (Leona), Mrs, Thomas Cathcart, (Biola), Mrs. William Skinner, (Iona), and Mrs. New- man Skinner, (Frances) all of Toronto. Two sons, Bigelow and Nelson both of Co- balt. There are 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. COBALT COUPLE MARRIED TWENTY-FIVE YEARS Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lauzon First Street, Cobalt, celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary recently. Mrs. Lauzon was the former Miss Florida Coutre and they were married in Granby, Que- bec, Mrs. Tony Arsenault of Gillies a daughter, and Mrs. Emile Grise also a daughter of New Liskeard made the surprise wedding party. for their parents. Mrs. Arsenault pinned a love- ly corsage of roses on her mother's dress and pinned a Buttonaire on her dad. The group sang for they are jolly good fellows as they enter- ed. Another group of friends made the three tiered wedding cake all decorated with 25 years wedding anniversary marked on the top. The family gave asa gift a beautiful chrome table and eight chairs and a rocking chair to match with silver colored trim- mings. Their eight children all attended who were: Mr. and Mrs. T. Arsenault (Hughette) of Gillies; Mr. and Mrs. E. Grise (Paulette) New Liskeard; Miss Danielle at home, Alexis, John, Marc, Conrad, Vincent and Geo- rge, all the family were home for the occasion.
