Mr. W. E. Cumming, Mrs. Melsaac father accompanied them and is staying for a holiday here. Several people from town motored to New Liskeard at the weekend to watch the curling games between the McDonough Wallace rinks. Mr. and Mrs, Jack Cargg and two children of Elliot Lake are in town with Mr. Cragg's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cragg. Their daughter, Carolyn was operated on in the Misericordia Hospital Monday, and is coming on well. Mrs. A. T. Humphreys and Mrs, N. J. McAulay Sr., were in Cobalt Tuesday night to attend a meeting of the Past Worthy Matrons Club. Evangelist Robert McLaren of Sault Ste. Marie is holding a special] meeting in Lakeview Bible Chapel this week. Mré and Mrs. Tom Warriner of Sarnia, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sutheran. Mrs. Paul Larose and_ son, Micheal of Kirkland Lake were visitors at the home of Mr, and , Mrs, Ivan Sadler during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Brown and family accompanied by Mrs. Mel Hurteau and son, Brian visited Mrs. Walter Preedy of Kirkland Lake Sunday. Mrs. Hurteau re- mained for a few days visiting with her mother. WEDDING BELLS CONTI -- GAUVREAU The alter of Holy Cross church was adorned with white 'mums Saturday, January 25, at eleven o'clock, for the marriage of Claudette Gauvreau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Gauvreau and Alphonse Conti, son of Mr. and Mrs, Luigi Conti of Cobalt. Rey. L. Brunette was the of- ficiating priest and the nuptial mass was sung by the groom's brother, John Conti. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose for her wedding, a full skirted gown of white velvet, the bodice featur- ing long lily point sleeves and tiny Peter Pan collar. Her fin- gertip veil of white net was draped from a pearl trimmed -crown. She carried red rose buds on a white Bible. She was attended by her sister, Miss Beatrice Gauvreau as bridesmaid, wearing pink chiffon, with ballerina length skirt, the neckline of the bodice outlined with beads and comp- leted by a lace bolero. She wore a pink flower wreath with a tiny veil and carried a bouquet of pale yellow 'mums. Little Linda Dempster made a charming flower girl, wearing a floor length frock of pale blue taffeta with matching rhinestone studded crown. She carried a basket of white and yellow mums. For her daughters' wedding and-reception which followed at the Haileybury Curling Club, the bride's mother wore a gown of royal blue velvet with beige hat and accessories. As the groom's mother was unable to attend because of ill- ness his sister, Miss Inez Conti, received in her stead, wearing black crepe with pink hat. Both ladies wore corsages of red roses. Following a honeymoon spent in Rouyn, Mr. and Mrs. Conti will make their home in Hailey- bury. Among the out of town guests who attended the wedding were NOTICE!
