Cosgrove of North Cobalt was a recent visitor in Kirkland Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Dowglas Orr of Timmins spent the week-end in town with relatives and also yisited Mrs, Orr Sr., who is a patient in Haileybury Hospital. Mrs. Edgar St. Dennis of West Cobalt is a patient in Misericor- dia hospital where she has undergone surgery. Mrs. Elmer Sopha is _ visiting at the home of her parents. Mr. Larwin Hartline of New> market was home attending. the funeral of his mother. WORLD'S DAY OF PRAYER A meeting was held on Mon- day afternoon. at the Salvation Army residence. The meeting was held to pre- pare for the "World's Day of Prayer" being held February 21. This year the service will be held at the Salvation Army Cita- del. Mrs. (Captain) Broughton of Kirkland Lake: will be in charge of the service. It is hoped that there will be a good attendance EXPLORERS On Tuesday night, the Ex- plorers Group held a_ skating party in place of the regular meeting. Mrs. I. B. Hayes serv- ed a lovely spaghetti supper. Mrs, Basil Jaskson accompanied the group. Supper was followed by games motto and prayer and the sing- ing of "Children who "walk in Jesus way". ST. JAMES' W.A. On Wednesday evening, the regular monthly meeting of St. James' W.A. was held' at the home of Mrs. John: Hunt. Fighteen members were pre- sent. Plans were completed for a banquet being held February 19, The Scripture reading was by Mrs. J. J. Fildes. Mrs. George Johnston read the study book. COBALT GIRL GUIDE NOTES The regular meeting of the Girl Guides was held on Monday evening in the Community Hall. Twenty members were pre- sent. Acting Captain Giovanella and Lieut Male and Lieut Cate Company leader was Erica John- ston, z Meeting opened with staking game, called Cats and Dogs fol- lowed by patrol formation, col- lection of dues and roll call. For the next half hour, during horseshoe formation and patrols the Guides devoted there time to projects for "Thinking Day". After Taps, patrol leaders and seconds remained for Court of Honor. North Cobalt Home and School The regular monthly meeting of the North Cobalt Home and School Association, was held in the Public School Auditorium. Monday February 11th at 8 p.m. Mrs. M. J Dwyer received at the daor and presented each guest and member with a valen- tine lapel pin President, Mis. K. Bolger opened the meeting and Mrs. Othmer read the Home and school prayer, followed by the members. reading the Code of Ethics. Roll call was nineteen members and _ thirteen guests present. Mrs, Jarvis, teacher for Grades three and four won the library book and banner for having the most par- ents and grandparents present. Teenage representatives at- tending the meeting were, Bar- bara Shaw, Margaret Coe. Gary Deeley, and Freddie Cranston for a discussion on a Teen-Town Club. After a business session, pro- gram chairman, Mrs. Jean La- foy, introduced the guest speaker Mr. Jesse French, manager of C.J.K.L., New Liskeard studios, who gave a very interesting and educational talk on advertising by radio, and other very en- lightening facts about radio and their program schedules and ob- ligations. Mrs. Nora Perry thanked Mr. French on behalf of the Home and School.
