THE HAILEYBURIAN and COBALT WEEKLY POST Founded by C: C. Farr in 1904 Publisher JOON HiGN Cobalt, Ontario. Member Canadian Weekly Newspaper Association Issued every Thursday, from Tie Haileyburian Office Broadway Street, Haileybury, Ontario. Authorized as Second Class Mail Post Office, Department, Ot taw In Canada -- $2.50 per year in advance {n United States -- $3.50 per year in advance. Haileybury this week is playing host to golfers and golf fans from all over the north. Wejoin with all the community in welcoming them and wishing them the very best of luck. It seems strange that this little town, which lacks any major industry, which isn't so directly dependent on the mines as is Cobalt, nor has the solid agricultur- al basis of New Liskeard, can still be unchallenged as a recreational centre. Our golfing friends will find good hotels, excellent boating , swimming and fishing, and a town in which the average quality of residence challenges any in the north. And, if we may send a shiver down their backs, in the winter time our curling club is one of the fine st in the province. As an entertainment and recreational centre Hailey- bury occupies something of a unique position. It is, perhaps, unfortunate that so little has been done to attract more tourists, and to develop more tourist attractions and tourist industries here. But perhaps one of our golfing Visitors will take time to have a good look round Haileybury, and realize that here we have great opportunities if someone will but take time to develop them.
