Routine busi- ness was disposed of and under new business, there was an elec- tion of officers. Installation of officers will take place at the next meeting held on October 8. Mrs. Richard Ficury is conval- escing at her home after under- going surgery at the Misericordia hospital. Mr. and ewe ee th Pridham of Palmerston visited Canon and Mrs. C. Goodier last week-end. Mr-'and Mrs. Hugh Wickham and son. Kevin are leaving this week to attend the wedding of Mr. Wichk. Mrs A. Wright and Mrs. R: Sulli- van. George Mitchell, Q.C., was guest Speaker at the 'Cobalt Lions' Club regular Dinner meeting in the Legion Hall recently and was introduced by Bob Sopha. Mr. Mitchell gave an interest- ing talk on the early days of Cobalt and Haileybury, and told of many humorous incidents dur- ing hte pioneer days. He had yvisioned Cobalt becoming an even bigger camp in the future than|! it was in the boom days, His theory is that gold will re- place silver as the chief product of Cobalt's mines. Mr. Mitchell urged that Govern- ment assistance be secured to con- duct a diamond drilling program in this area to exploit these pos- sibilities. _ He was thanked on. Wilkinson conducted the devotional period at the recent meeting of the Women's Federa- tion of St. Andrews United Church. The meeting was held, in the church. Miss Muriel Rice presided over twenty members. Mrs. Parry gave a report on -the finances of the Federation. Mrs. Ritchie extended Her thanks for the help she had received with the flowers for the church. The Mizpah benediction closed the meeting.
