John Manson Fleming, a pioneer resident of this district, died re- cently at his home on the West Road of Haileybury. He was in his 87th year. wee Born near Huntsville in Novem- ber 1871, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Fleming, He spent his early life there, coming to the north in 1896. He was a competent and keen farmer, and spent his whole life at this work, cutting timber dur- ing the winter months. He was married in Haileybury in 1913 to Miss Mabel Middleton. A private service was held at the home on September 29 for the family, with final service at the Tulloch Funeral Chapel in Hailey- bury. Capt. B. Craddock of the Sal- vation Army in Kirkland Lake of- ficiated, assisted by Lieut. Switz- er of Haileybury. . Pall-bearers were all old friends and neighbors, Chester Hopkins, Stan Mcgowan, Ritchie Plaunt, El- mer Campbell, Elmer Nelson and Sam Craig. Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife and two daughters, Marjorie, Mrs. George Hoover, Madoc, and Muriel at home. Three sons, Gor- don in Newfoundland; Harold at Chaput Hughes and Lawrence at home. Also surviving are 17 grand- children and' one brother, Leslie Fleming of Kingston. Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. George Hoover, Madoc; Mr. and Mrs. A. Kenyon, New Liskeard; Mrs. Lafferene, Fred and Jean of Larder Lake; Mrs. D. Mcpherson, Mrs. Duncan Lindsay all of Kirkland Lake; Mrs. Gordon Fleming, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fleming all of Chaput Hughes; Mr. Leslie Fleming of Kingston; Mrs. Edna Jessup, Mr. Dan Higgins of North Bay; Mrs. Calvin Bigelow of Kirkland Lake. Deputy Registrar, . 62 Government Road West, Kirkland Lake, Ontario. 34 Mrs. Taylor Pipe The death occurred in Hailey- bury on Sunday, October 19th of Mrs, Taylor Pipe, following an illness of several years. Mrs. Pipe, whose maiden name was Mabel Catherine Dunn, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Dunn. She was born in Westmeath, Ontario, and was married in Haileybury in 1906. Mrs. Pipe has been a resident of Haileybury for the past thirty- nine years and her kindliness and friendly personality will be missed by many. Until her health failed she was active in the work of the United church. Funeral services were held from St. Andrew's United church on Wednesday, October 22nd with Rev. J. W. Wilkinson officiating. Pall-bearers were two. sons, J. Taylor Pipe, Robert F. Pipe, three sons-in-law, J. L, Hough, |' S. M. Roscoe, D. B. McIntyre and a cousin, A. G. Little. : Interment was in Mount Plea- sant cemetery, ; Mrs. Pipe is survived by her husband, six daughters, Miss Eve- lyn Pipe, Toronto; Helen, Mrs. M. H. Charron, Toronto; Elizabeth, Mrs. J. L. Hough, Haileybury; Louise, Mrs.. B. Turner, Van- couver, B.C.; Ruth, Mrs. D. B. McIntyre, Hamilton and Joan, Mrs. S. M. Roscoe, Ancaster; two sons, J. Taylor Pipe of Sudbury and Robert F. Pipe of New Lis- keard, and fourteen grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. E. B. Allan of Lancaster, N. B., and a sister-in-law, Mrs. J. E. Dunn, Haileybury.
