Haileybury Minors At New Liskeard - Last Thursday night Haileybury _Minor Bantams and Bantams played two games in New Liskeard in connection with Young Canada Hockey Week. Haileybury broke even on the night's play when the Minor Bantams won 2 - 1 on goals by Ron Gravel and Allan Bolan. The Bantams were soundly beat- en. cf Sunday afternoon the Pee Wee, Minor Bantams and Bantams played in Cobalt. Again the Minor Bantams brought home the only honors when they fought to a 3-3 tie. S. Fleming figured in all the ») x Qo with two goals and an as- sist. In the previous game, the Pee Wees were heaten 3-0. The Ban- > tams, who. were shorthanded, lost 'keard. New Liskeard 9-1 with Rivard, a Minor Bantam scoring Haileybury's only goal. 'Sunday afternoon, - Haileybury Midgets played host to New Lis- extended their unbeaten streak by beating Haileybury 5-2. Price and Helmer paced New Liskeard's attack with two goals each while Donaghue scored the fifth. Hogan and Black scored Haileybury's goals. Grenon again in the Haileybury nets withstood many New Liskeard rushes, stop- ping 38 shots. Haileybury's lack of polish around the New Liskeard net was evident-with Short having to make only 22 saves. This Sunday Haileybury Midgets play in Cobalt and cars are once again needed. She was in her thirty- eighth year. The funeral service was held on January 8 from Holy Cross Church, Haileybury with interment in the local Cemetery. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Emile Desmarais, Haileybury, two _ sisters and six brothers She was predeceased by her father in De- cember, 1957. There was one from Englehart, with Jim Legary skipping, one from Temagami with Bill Mac- Arthur skip, two' from New Lis- keard with Al Francis and Har- old Vosburgh heading the rink and Ron Morissette and Neil McAulay from Haileybury. There é. close and exciting games and a large crowd from the district were on hand to cheer along their favorite team. After the end of the fourth game Saturday-it was found Al Francis. and Ron Morissette rinks had each won four games and as the others had no more than two wins it was decided only the one game would be played on Sunday to decide which rink would win the trophy for their club.
