Cc X Cobalt Socials Stephen Kostuik Mr. Stephen Kostuik, a resident of Cobalt for the past 47 years, passed away in his sleep on May 1, at the age of 80. Born in Aus- tria, January 26, 1879, he served as a policeman in Austria and also did military service for his. coun- try. Married in 1910 to the former Julia Luzenski they left Austria in 1912 to come to Canada where they settled in Cobalt. Here he worked in the mines. Friends paid last re- spects at the Buffam Funeral Home where the body rested until the time of the funeral. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rey- erend Father Ovila Lemay at 9 a.m., May 4, at Ste' Therese Church, Pall-bearers were three sons, John, Bernard and Edward, G. Kamm, C¢. Kamm and. M. Chomyshn. Burial was in the Catholic. Cemetery at 104. Surviving Mr. Kostuik are his wife, three sons, John of Toronto, Bernard of London, Edward of Noranda and three daughters, Mrs. Wm. Mousseau, Windsor; Mrs. C. Kamm, Quebec City, Chomyshn, Malartic, Quebec. Hydro Ladies Club The regular meeting of Cobalt Hydro Ladies Club was held Tues- day, May 5, at the home of Mrs. Ross MacDougall. Mrs. K. Reid, president, .presided. Mrs. Cahill read the minutes and the roll call was answered by 11 members. The treasurer's report by Mrs. Laroc- que was followed with final plans for the June 1 meeting. It was de- cided to meet at 5:30 for dinner at the Haileybury Hotel and go on to a show after. Members who wish to attend are asked to con- tact Mrs. W. Mallett no later than Friday, May 29. As there is 'still quite a lot of knittmg for the Children's Aid to be completed, this will be held over until the fall. The gift of the month was won by Mrs. W. Mallett. Mrs. C. Hunt, Nickel St. President, Mrs. H. Fildes opened the meeting with members repeat- ing in unison the Members' Pray- er and the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. E. Greening read the minutes and the roll call and treasurers report were given by Mrs. E. Othmer-: Mrs. E. Greening and Mrs. E. Othmer were chosen as delegates to the W.A. Annual meeting which is to be in Sudbury on May 26, 27, and 28. A.letter from the Cobalt Library Association was read. Mrs. Greening offered her home for the June meeting.
