Page 4 The Haileyburian Ranney - Stabler A wedding of interest to Cobalt residents took place Saturday May 16th at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church, Mattawa. Fay Theresa Stabler daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Leblane of Mattawa exchanged marriage vows with Richard Malcolm Ranney of Cal- lander. Given in marfiage by A. Leblane the bride wore a lovely gown of peau de soie fashioned with a scalloped neckline, seed pearl and iridescent sequins em- broidered lbodice and lily point Thursday, May 21, 1959 sleeves. The skirt was very bouf- fant with bustle effect back. Her finger-tip veil was theld with a rhinestone tiara., She wore the gift of the groom, a two 'strand pearl necklace and earrings. Her bou- quet was a cascade of red and white roses. She was attended by Miss Anne Keon of Cobalt who wore a blue nylon tulle waltz length gown with matching head- dress and shoes. She canried pink carnations and corn flowers. The best man was the brother of the groom. Following the wed- ding a reception was theld at the Mattawa Curling Club where the guests were received by the bride's mother who looked lovely in a beige lace dress with mint green accessories. She wore a corsage of tea roses. She was assisted by the groom's mother who chose a be- coming dress of midnight blue with pale blue accessories and her cor- sage was tea roses. The young couple left for a wedding trip to Cape Cod. For travelling the bride chose a biege silk sheath dress with duster to match, beige hat and shoes, brown bag and wore a corsage of pink roses. On their return Mr. and Mrs. Ranney will reside in North Bay. Highlight of the reception was a poem read by Len Selle which he had composed in the bride's honour. Numerous cards and telegrams also arrived from relatives and friends in Eng- land and Scotland. Guests attend- ed rom Sudbury, Manitoulin Island, Timmins, Iroquois Falls, Cobalt, North Bay, Virginiatown and Montreal. In duckpin bowling the ball and pins are smaller than in standard bowling. The ball is five inches in diameter and weighs three pounds five ounces. The bowler is allow- ed three deliveries in a frame, rather than two. Fund Raising Easy For Burying Editors An editor died after a lingering illness. His savings barely covered hospital and doctor bills, leaving nothing for funeral expenses.
