Following the opening ceremon- ies at two p.m., Mrs. Betty Ander- son of North Bay, past president of the Rebekah Assembly, was_in- troduced by Mrs, Alma Steele of Cobalt, past district deputy presi- dent. ' Mrs, Maude Cragg of-Hailey- bury, district deputy was introduced by Mrs. Olive Mac- Intyre, past noble grand, Hailey- bury. Mrs. Anderson, who was répre- senting the provincial president, Mrs. Maybee, spoke briefly, bring- ing greetings from the president and expressing her pleasure in be- ing present. Members were Golden Gate Lodge, Kirkland Lake; Northern Beacon, Engle- hart; ~ Silver, Cobalt; Lakeside, Wew Liskeard, and Northern Light, Haileybury. For the past number of years the writer has been engaged in collect- ing historical information relating to the early development of the Temiskaming & Northern Ontario Railway and the Nipissing Central Railway. If any reader has photographs or information relating to the Nipis- sing Central Railway particularly the writer is most anxious to make contact with the owner. This was followed by the Rebekah Memorial Service for members who had passed on during the year. This was in charge of the Cobalt Lodge and was an impressive 'and touch- ing ceremony. At six o'clock a turkey supper was served to the ladies by the United Church Women's Federa- tion. At the evening session, the Hail- eybury members, under the super- vision of Mrs. Pearl Brown of Co- balt; degree captain, exemplified the Rebekah Degree. A guard of honor was formed by the' Lakeside Lodge 'from New Liskeard, each member carrying an arm bouquet of pink and yellow gladioli. It was only by careful economy during the years of depression and war that the Directors were able to maintain the general up-keep of The Northern Beacon Lodge members, in a beautiful ceremony, exemplified the Reconsecration Service. Mrs. Anderson commented on the work of the various lodges and complimented the members on the excellence of their work and the efficient manner in which it was done. Following this, Mrs. Bates of Golden Gate Lodge, presented Mrs. Anderson with a gift, on be- half of those present. Mrs. Cragg thanked the mem- 'bers for their co-operation during her year in office, saying how much she had enjoyed her contacts with them. She also expressed her pride in the accomplishments. of her own lodge, Northern Light, in Haileybury. the course and club house so thatBoomerang the popularity of the Club did not diminish, or the property suffer from neglect. About ten years ago membership was increased by the inclusion of residents of New Lis- keard whose own club had been the victim of industrial progress in the loss of its course.
